Research Summary
For fast label-free detection of chemical and biological fluid, refractive index sensing of the solution is a very useful way. The surface plasmon resonance (SPR) phenomenon is able to absorb the peak energy to maximize to oscillation of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) residing on a metal-dielectric interface. When the energy source is light and the dielectric is our unknown liquid sample, the wavelength of SPR occurrence is naturally defined by the refractive index of the analyte. This coupling between light and SPPs is most convenient when the incident EM wave is confined within a photonic crystal fiber (PCF) rather than a prism or a conventional fiber.

The pictures in the left portray my works on structure optimization for dual polarization feasibility and simultaneous multi-analyte sensing. This method shows promises to identification of cancer cell.
